Jimmy Sorrentino - The Gypsy Cafe and Pub
*Gasp* I actually did a lot of things this week including but not limited to: fair food friday, elephant ears, Red Robin (classy, I know), and Bridesmaids. But one of my favorite things I did this week (including one of the only things I took a picture of) was see my dear friend, Jimmy Sorrentino do some stand-up. I've been living in Seattle for what? Almost a year now and I had yet to see Jimmy do some Seattle stand-up. Well, finally I went. It was return to comedy after he had bones removed from his head! (wisdom teeth) Let me tell you, he was funny. Welcome back Jimmy. You can bet I'll be seeing more shows.

Wanna laugh? Just think Jimmy Sorrentino.

Tea on Wheels - Volunteer Park
Yes, this week is another lovely Book-It post. This Saturday, we piloted a niffy marketing idea called Tea on Wheels. This idea was brain-child of our lovely marketing and communications director Patricia Britton. We teamed up with Diane and the Street Treats truck and went to two different parks and read scenes from our upcoming show Sense & Sensibility. Delicious treats and impromptu performance! What could be better?! I performed as Elinor Dashwood and Shannon Erickson was Marianne Dashwood. It was grand fun. It's been so long since I've done any performing, let alone got to put on a costume. Wheeeeee. Plus Shannon and I got to try out our knowledge of the Book-It style...which I don't think we messed up too much.

And Shannon, you will always be my Marianne.

Little Bee reading - Seattle Central Library
(okay, i'm a little behind.) the Seattle Reads book for this year is Little Bee by Chris Cleve. if you have not read it yet, i suggest you do so. while i'm not a fan of the marketing they used here in america, this is a very powerful book no matter which way you turn it. Book-It usually works with Seattle Public Libraries to adapt the Seattle Reads book, and they did so again this year. Chris Cleve was on hand to watch the proceedings. and hip-hip hurrah! he loved the reading. loved it. all of us book-iteers could not be prouder.

and seriously, read the book.

playground - kerry park
there were sunny days this week! multiple sunny days! (and some rainy ones as well.) we started the week by having a delicious and really expensive brunch at Salty's and then going on a park tour of seattle. of course Salty's is out at Alki but then we headed to Kerry Park (which you see above) and Gasworks later that day. it was a glorious day.

a little behind but here it is:
cal anderson park: capitol hill - seattle, wa
christina and i spent all day saturday at the park. it was gorgeous, bright, and full of hooping. every time i think spring is finally here and summer is on it's way, the northwest reminds me where i am with the bipolar weather. this is a picture of a mural outside the construction site for the light rail stop on capitol hill. it also reminds me of where i live.

rain or shine. this is my place.
